GOWANUS BY DESIGN - ARTS GOWANUS TOWER AWARD | BROOKLYN, NY

Rojas AP Principal Deborah Rojas, RA, WEDG joined Gowanus by Design in celebrating its recognition with the Tower Award from Arts Gowanus. The award recognizes Gowanus by Design’s longstanding commitment to community-centered design, local artists, and the Gowanus community. The event highlights the firm’s connection to collaborative design, urban planning, arts advocacy, and inclusive placemaking within Brooklyn.

“LIGHT UP THE WORLD” | LEWIS LATIMER HOUSE MUSEUM | FLUSHING (QUEENS)

This Project Award recognizes the Lewis Latimer House Museum's new permanent exhibition, “Light up the World,” a complete renovation of the house and a new meticulously designed exhibition. This new look honors Latimer's remarkable life, legacy, and impact and promotes historically diverse & culturally responsive STEAM education to inspire tomorrow’s problem-solvers. Each gallery explores a facet of Latimer’s far-reaching and layered world - through his imagination, creativity, and perseverance that carried through generations of the Latimer family, the high stakes environment of electrical innovation, and the community advocacy that saved Latimer’s historic home.

Choosing Visualization for Transportation (CVT) was developed as an innovative online resource to help transportation professionals select appropriate visualization methods for public participation and community engagement. Funded through the Federal Transit Administration’s Public Transportation Participation Pilot Program, the project was developed collaboratively by Hunter College and Parsons Brinckerhoff and provided users with tools and guidance for applying visualization techniques to transportation planning. Deborah Rojas contributed as a core team member in the development and population of the website, supporting the project’s focus on making complex transportation planning information more accessible and understandable to the public.

SOCIETY OF TYPOGRAPHIC ARTS 100 | 2026

Lewis Latimer House Museum was recognized as a 2026 STA 100 winning project by the Society of Typographic Arts. Rojas AP served as the Renovation Architect for the permanent exhibition at the historic Queens home of inventor, draftsman, artist, and poet Lewis H. Latimer. The project brings together architecture, exhibition design, and storytelling to honor Latimer’s legacy and create an accessible space for learning and community engagement
